Apply for DS-2019

The J-1 visa requires a short interview at a U.S. embassy or U.S. consulate in your home country. We’ll help you arrange this interview, by walking through form DS-2019, which is the document required to schedule the interview.

Pay your fees

While the cost of your program covers the submission of your J-1 visa and sponsorship, there are two additional fees. You need to pay a SEVIS-901 fee to the Department of Homeland Security in the U.S. and the Nonimmigrant Visa Application Processing Fee. When accepted to a skills360 program, we let you know the exact amount of these fees and when they are due.

Go to your interview

You must interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate before your J-1 visa will be approved. We help you prepare for this interview and even send you a reminder when its time to schedule it.

Required docs

Want to be as prepared as possible? Start gathering these documents for your J-1 application.

Valid Passport:

Your passport must be valid for six months from the start of your internship program and have an entire blank page for the visa. If your current passport doesn’t meet these requirements – it’s time for a new one.

Passport photo:

The U.S. requires a specific size ( 2×2 in, 51×51 mm) and quality photo with any J-1 application. It can’t be blurry, discolored, or damaged. And we recommend taking a new photo that shows your current hair color and appearance.

Certificate of eligibility for exchange visitor status:

This required form is provided by skills360. During the application and interview process with our team, we will collect enough information to issue this document. You’ll have it accurate and ready to submit your application.

Not going to the U.S.?

Every country has different visa and sponsorship requirements. The processes can be very different! It is important you learn about the right visa process from the start.

If you are working in the U.K. as an international intern, you need to apply for a Certificate of Sponsorship or CoS, skills360 can help. Begin by reading our guide to the CoS application.
